Privacy

Borrowed is a place to share travel itineraries. This page describes everything it stores about you and why. There is no advertising on Borrowed, no analytics or tracking scripts, and nothing here is sold or shared with advertisers.

What is collected

• Your Google account details. When you sign in with Google, Borrowed receives your name, email address and profile picture, and stores them so your trips can be attributed to you and friends can find you.
• What you create. Trips, days, stops, the notes you write on them and any photos you upload.
• Who you connect with. Friendships, invite links you create or accept, the trips you save, and which trips you have been given access to edit.
• Who invited you. If you arrived through someone's invite link, that referral is recorded against your account.

What is public

A trip you publish is public. Anyone can read it, including people who are not signed in, and it appears on the map and in the feed alongside your display name and profile picture. Trips you have not published are visible only to you and to anyone you explicitly share them with.

Who else sees it

Borrowed relies on a small number of services to run:

• Supabase — the database, sign-in, and the storage bucket your uploaded photos live in.
• Vercel — hosting, which means standard server request logs.
• Google — sign-in only; Borrowed never sees your Google password.
• OpenStreetMap — map tiles are requested by your browser as you pan, and city names are looked up against its geocoder when a trip is published.

Cookies and local storage

Borrowed keeps your sign-in session in your browser's local storage so you are not asked to sign in on every visit, and keeps unpublished drafts there too. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Deleting things

You can delete any trip you published from your account settings, and remove photos from the stops you own. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email austin_f_liu@brown.edu from the address you signed up with.

Borrowed is under active development, so this page will change as the app does. The date above is when it last did.
